FACT FINDING REPORT The Hollister School District and the California School Employees Association, Chapter 625, fact finding report. |
August 12, 2011 Dear Parents Welcome back to the Hollister School District for the 2011-2012 school year. Many of our schools will look a little different this year, than they did last year. R.O. Hardin, Ladd Lane, Cerra Vista, and Sunnyslope schools will add sixth grade students to their campuses this year, while Marguerite Maze and Rancho San Justo Middle School will serve only seventh and eighth grade students. Gabilan Hills School will no longer serve seventh and eighth grade students, and the Hollister Dual Language Academy has added fifth grade to their school this year. This year you will see solar panel projects being added to our school sites. At most sites these solar panel structures will be constructed as shade shelters with solar panels mounted on top. All of the solar panel projects are being added to our school district sites at no cost to the District. While the District will not expend any funds for the construction of these projects, we will benefit from reduced costs for energy from these projects for many years to come. Our District will see many classes with more students per teacher than we would like. However, classes will, in most instances, have 33 or fewer students per teacher. During the first few days of instruction this year we will have additional teachers available at our schools where we think we might have larger classes. Also during the first few days of school we will need to adjust our classes by moving students from classes with too many students to classes with fewer students. We always hope to minimize the disruption to students caused when students are moved from one class to another. However, your school principal, at my direction, must make these adjustments to avoid overcrowding. Finally, we are pleased to see the growth in student learning we saw last year. We continue to invest in instructional materials and training for our teachers and principals that we are certain will make even greater gains in student learning this year. I hope you, and your children have a wonderful school year. Best regards, Gary L. McIntire, Ed.D. |
